Regina 34 Automatic Music Box

 

 

Regina model 34 automatic music box. This plays 27" diameter discs, 12 discs are stored in the lower section when a selection is made the lift mechanism raises the disc into playing position. After the disc has played it is lowered and the next disc is brought into position to be played. This model was introduced in 1899, this particular unit was shipped from the factory on September 11, 1901 to  Kirk Johnson & Company in Lancaster, PA

 

Playing mechanism of the music box. The long gold plate is called the bedplate, on the right side you can see the double set of musical combs that produce the sound. Behind the bedplate is the motor, you can see the two large spring barrels above and below the bedplate. One spring is to play the disc the other drives the lift mechanism.
